Abstract

676,919. Fuel injection pumps. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. June 1, 1950 [June 1, 1949], No. 13780/50. Classes 7(iii) and 7(v) [Also in Group XXVI] A fuel injection pump speed-responsive regulator 2 is provided with two resilient stops 21, 22 defining the idle running and full load positions and with a manually operable means 33 for over-riding the stops to impart an additional regulating movement, e.g. in one direction for fuel cut off and in the other direction excess fuel delivery for starting. As shown a suction actuated governor comprises a diaphragm 5 connected by a cap 9 to a rod 10 connected by a pin 12 to the pump regulating rod 4. A sleeve 13 resiliently connected to the rod 10 engages an arm 16 on a sleeve 18, Fig. 2, carrying an arm 19 positioned between the stops 21, 22. The sleeve 18 is pivoted on a shaft 15 operated by the lever 33 and carrying a sleeve 30, Fig. 4, which engages through lost motion a projection 29 on sleeve 18. The stops 21, 22, and the parts 29, 30 permit free movement of the sleeve 13 and the arms 16, 19, with the diaphragm 5 from the idle running position in which arm 16 is held by the stop 21 to the full load position in which it is held by the stop 22. Actuation of the lever 33 rotates the sleeve 18 to force back the stop 21 for fuel cut off or the stop 22 for extra fuel for starting. In the idling range, with the sleeve 13 held stationary by stop 21, the movement of the diaphragm 5 is opposed by a spring 14 in addition to the usual spring 8.
