Abstract

1466877 Speed governor ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 7378/74 Heading G3B A centrifugal speed governor for an I.C. engine comprises a tipping lever 30 hinged at 29 to an arm 28 of a regulating sleeve 16 and located between a pair of spring-urged stops 43a, 44a, and a shift lever 32 one end of which is connected to the tipping lever 30 and the other end to an intermediate lever 33, characterized in that the stops are spring- urged on to opposite faces 41, 42 of the tipping lever, one of the springs 45 being located in the sleeve 16 and the other in an adjustable screw sleeve 55 in a power transmissive lever 20. An idling regulator spring 50 is also located in the sleeve 55. In operation, the fuel quantity adjusting member 35 is moved manually in direction V by an operating lever 38, to produce a large supply of fuel for starting. As the speed increases the sleeve takes up the distance between a shoulder 52 of a sleeve 51 inside the sleeve 55, and the end of sleeve 55 by moving the tipping lever 30 the distance b. This rotates the shift lever 32 anti-clockwise tending to cause the member 35 to move in the direction S to reduce the supply of fuel. After the initial stress of the spring 45 is overcome, it allows movement a during which the pivot 29 of the tipping lever 30, which is carried by the sleeve 16, rocks that lever clockwise and so moves the member 35 in the direction V to increase the fuel supply. Then, after the initial stress of the spring 49 is overcome, it allows a movement c, during which the tipping lever 30 is rocked counter-clockwise and the member 35 moved back in direction S. Thereafter the sleeve 16 acts against the main spring 27 to regulate the final speed. The spring 49 may have a greater spring rate than spring 45 giving different regulating characteristics, Fig. 3 (not shown).
