Abstract

1,245,145. Speed governors. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Nov.13, 1968 [Nov.14, 1967], No. 53822/68. Heading G3B. A centrifugal governor for regulating the speed of a diesel engine has a linkage 19, 20, 21, 29, acted upon at one end by an adjusting member 8 moved by weights 3 in dependence upon the speed of a shaft, and whose other end is coupled to a delivery quantity adjusting shaft 18 of an injection pump, the travel of the shaft 18 in the direction of increased delivery being defined by an adjustable stop 34 contacted by a finger 29a on the lever 29, a power storing spring 31 which is tensioned as soon as, and as long as, the linkage is biased to move the shaft 18 beyond the stop, the weights 3 acting upon a transmission member 6, disposed between the weights and the adjusting member 8, the member 6 being coupled to the stop 34, and transmitting the forces of the weights to the member 8 by way of a spring 7. The member 8 has a pin 9 rigidly secured thereto which is slidably received in the shaft 1. The member 6 is coupled to an adjustable pivot 42 on the stop 34 by two levers 38 and 39 mounted on a fixed pivot 40 and transmitting their movement through a drag spring 41. The stop 34 is formed by a cam plate 34<SP>1</SP> mounted upon a block 37 which can be rotated manually or by devices responsive to altitude and temperature. In operation, a lever 28 is set manually so that finger 29a abuts cam plate 34 defining starting delivery. When the engine has started, members 6 and 8 are displaced without spring 7 being compressed. Idling spring 17 is compressed until sleeve 8 abuts member 11. At the same time cam plate 34 is drawn downwardly by levers 38, 39 to cut out the starting quantity. As the speed increases, spring 7 is compressed until the members 6 and 8 abut, the cam plate 34 is drawn further downwardly until it abuts slide block 37 and finger 29a abuts the fullload quantity position of the cam 34. When the engine speed increases further, member 11 is displaced by sleeves 6, 8 and an adjustable regulating spring 14 is compressed. During this movement the block 37 prevents further displacement of the stop 34, so that the drag spring 41 is compressed.
