Abstract

1,254,394. Speed governors. ROBERT BOSCH G. m. b. H. March 6, 1970 [March 8, 1969], No. 10805/70. Heading G3B. A speed governor for a fuel injection pump 3 of an internal combustion engine comprises an intermediate lever system 14, 15 adapted to act upon the fuel quantity adjusting member 12 of the pump 3 and which is displaceable by a speed transducer 17 against an arbitrarily variable force supplied by a governor spring 18 and against the force of a starting spring 27, wherein the starting spring acts upon the intermediate lever part 15 by way of a starting piston 26 that is acted upon by a speed dependent hydraulic pressure which, above a predetermined value, prevents the piston from acting on the intermediate lever part 15. The intermediate lever is of two parts: part 14 being pivoted at 16 at one end and being subject to the governor spring 18 at the other, and part 15 also pivoted at 16 having two arms, one arm being subject to the force of the starting spring 27 in the starting position (shown in Fig. 1) and the other arm determining the position of the adjusting member 12. On starting the member 12 is held in the position shown in Fig. 1. Fuel from a reservoir 34 is pumped into chamber 17, and is forced into ducts 6 and 31. When the pressure in chamber 17 reaches the predetermined value, the starting piston is displaced into the chamber 29 and the spring thereby displaces the adjusting member 12 for normal regulation.
