Abstract

1445842 Governors C A V Ltd 30 Nov 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 60140/72 Heading G3B A governor for a fuel injection pump 10 comprises a housing 12, centrifugally operable means 13 which moves a sleeve 15, a lever 18 pivoted about point 19 in the housing, connected at one end to sleeve 15 and at its other end to the control rod 20 of the pump, so that as the engine speed increases the lever moves the control rod and reduces the fuel supply, a leaf-spring 21 acting on the sleeve, a ramp 26, a roller assembly 27 acting on the ramp and on the spring, means for adjusting the roller setting so that the force exerted by the spring can be varied, and resilient means 39 which is compressed when the engine speed reaches a predetermined value, so that lever 18 can cause reduction in the fuel supply. Roller assembly 27 is carried by an arm 28 pivoted about a shaft 29, which latter is adjustable so as to vary the force exerted by the roller assembly on leaf-spring 21. Ramp 26 is formed on a lever 25 pivoted at 24, and pins 40 on the lever co-operate with a flange 41 on sleeve 16. An abutment plate 42 on control rod 20 coacts with one of two stops 43, 44, which determine the maximum fuel normally supplied to the engine, and a further excess fuel for starting purposes.
