Abstract
1451059 Speed governors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Dec 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 56019/73 Heading G3B A centrifugal speed governor for a fuel injection I.C. engine includes a control device for preventing, when the engine is hot, the excess fuel normally supplied on starting. The governor comprises an operating lever 58 which is rigidly connected to a shaft 57 carrying a guide lever 56, the lever 56 acting as a slotted lever 43 and varying the quantity of fuel injected by regulating the position of the control rod 45; flyweights 12 acting through a governor sleeve 16, guide lever 42, drag lever 95 and slotted lever 43; a first cam plate 69 which determines the maximum fuel injected dependent on engine speed and a second cam plate 77 which renders part of the first cam plate 69 inoperative when the engine is hot. The first cam is made speed dependent by connecting it to the guide lever 42 via drag member 73 and driver 72. The two cams co-operate with a follower member 68 which is linked to the control rod 45. When the quantity of fuel is increased the rod 45 moves in direction C, Fig. 6, unless prevented by the follower member 68 abutting the cams 69, 77. When the engine is cold and not running, excess fuel is injected on starting by providing a notch 93 on the first cam 69. If the engine is hot cam 77 is rotated by a bi-metallic strip 82 so that the notch 93 is non operative. The cam 77 may be profiled as shown to provide degrees of obstruction depending on the temperature of the engine. The bi-metallic strip may respond to the temperature of the governor housing or the cooling water or engine lubricant Fig. 5 (not shown), or the liquid may be non flowing and heated electrically.
