Abstract
1,017,384. Regulating I.C. engines. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE GENERALE DE MECHANIQUE APPLIQUEE S.I.G.M.A. Sept. 17, 1962 [Sept. 19, 1961], No. 35351/62. Heading F1B. In a regulation device for I.C. Engines in which a governor acts on the fuel flow-rate at the two extreme ranges of speed, the operator controls fuel-flow at intermediate speeds through an accelerator control coupled to shaft 16, a lever 11 which pivots about an intermediate shaft 12 is coupled at its two ends to a fuel flow regulating member 10 and the movable member 3 of governor 1, and the accelerator control shaft 16 displaces shaft 12 transversely through the intermediary of a rotary cam 17, the shaft 12 being mounted on a pivoting lever 18 which is guided independently of the cam. The active portion of the cam has an idling range zone having a steep slope, and a normal speed range zone having a moderate slope. To increase engine speed shaft 16 is rotated over a first portion of its travel to displace roller 20 and shaft 12, against the action of spring 21, to the right in Fig. 2 until plate 3a contacts ring 8. The combined resistance of springs 4 and 6 resist further axial movement of ring 8 so that further rotation of shaft 16 controls the engine speed in the intermediate range until a speed is reached at which the governor 1 operates to limit the engine speed.
