Abstract

1,092,187. Centrifugal governors. KRAFTFAHRZEUGZUBEHOERWERKE DRESDEN VEB. July 15, 1965, No. 30001/65. Heading G3B. A centrifugal speed governor for fuel injection engines has fly-weights 3 to operate a control rod 7 through a transmitting system comprising a governor regulating spring 15, an idling spring 24 for controlling the lower speeds, and an assimilating spring 22 for reducing the fuel supply to the engine so as to compensate for droop from the starting speed to the nominal or adjusted load speed, the springs 22, 24 being arranged in a single adjustable sleeve 17. The sleeve 17, which is carried by a lever 6 pivotally mounted on a shaft 12 and connecting the fly-weight carrier to the rod 7, is secured in its adjusted position by a lock nut 18 and contains an abutment 21 located between the springs and secured and adjusted by nuts 23. During initial pivotal movement of the lever 6, a cap 25 slidably mounted in the sleeve is displaced inwardly by engagement with a bevelled surface on a lever 14 to compress the idling spring 24 until the inner end of the cap engages the plate 21. Further pivotal movement of the lever 6 now causes compression of the assimilating spring 22 until the load is sufficient to rotate the lever 14 about the shaft 12 against the tension of the spring 15, the latter having one end connected to the lever 14 and the other end to an adjustable lever 13.
