Abstract

1,108,321. Centrifugal governors. MACK TRUCKS Inc. July 6, 1965 [Sept. 16, 1964], No.28618/65. Heading G3B. [Also in Division F1 In an engine (see Group F1) having an operator accelerator control and a speed governor both controlling the fuel supply, the amount of fuel supplied per combustion stroke is progressively reduced as the engine speed increases to maintain a uniform horsepower output throughout a range including the maximum torque speed and the maximum operating speed. The accelerator acts through a shaft 31, Fig.4 and torsion spring S on a lever 32 which pivots a lever 33 to move link 35 and the fuel pump control rack 36. A governor 25 driven from the fuel pump cam-shaft 28 moves a collar 29, carrying the pivot pin 34 of lever 33, against spring 30 with increasing speed. The latter movement causes a camfollower 37 to engage an inclined cam surface on stop-plate 40 at a lower position thus limiting the maximum permitted fuel delivery.
