Abstract
731,735. Aircraft throttle controls. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1954 [Jan. 30, 1953], No. 2815/53. Class 4. A control for a fuel control valve of an internal combustion turbine engine of an aircraft comprises a control lever 10 which can be moved in the sense of effecting closure of the fuel flow control valve beyond a setting suitable for idling at ground level against the reaction of resilient means 14 which return the lever to the idling position when the pressure on the control lever is removed. As described the lever 10 moves in a quadrant 11, ungated, Fig. 2 (not shown) or gated, Fig. 3. The low power end of the quadrant bears a bracket 12 supporting a piston 13 biased by a spring 14. , In normal flight, the lever moves in the right hand portion of the quadrant between maximum power setting at the extreme right, and flight idling conditions 18 at the gate 15. The lever may be moved on its. spindle 17 against a spring 16 through the gate to a position 19 abutting the piston head, which is the ground idling position. For relighting the turbine at altitude, the lever is moved to the extreme left 20 against spring 14.
