Abstract

1450579 Regulating IC engine fuel injection ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 6 Sept 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 41951/73 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] The pressure of a fluid, e.g. fuel, providing the restoring force against displacement of an air-flow measuring element 4, which moves the slide valve 12 of a fuel distributer 8 through a lever 10, is controlled by a valve 53 having a control spring 59. The force of the spring 59 is acted against by a bimetallic spring 64 connected to a heat-conducting curved piece of metal 68 which is to be heated by an electric heating element 69 when the engine is started. The diaphragm valve 58 controls the pressure acting on the end-face 13 of the valve 12 and during warming up of the spring 64 the spring acts to reduce the force of the spring 59 acting through the pin 60 on the diaphragm valve such that the richness of the mixture supplied to the engine is appropriate. A heat insulating bush 66 connects the spring 64 and piece of metal 68 to the locating pin 65. A resistor 74 is included in the circuit of the heater 69 below a certain ambient temperature at which the bi-metallic strip 73 connects the heater direct to the earth connection 76. The pressure acting on the end-face 13 is further controlled by a valve 32 having a valve diaphragm 33 loaded by a spring force which is adjustable by a cam 38. The cam 38 is rotated with the throttle valve 7 and moved axially by a diaphragm 41 loaded by a spring 44 and subject to the pressure downstream of the throttle valve. The valve 12 controls metering slits 24 connected by conduits 25 to intake manifold fuel injectors and fuel is supplied to the distributer 8 by an electricallydriven fuel pump 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1336606.
