Abstract

755,314. Suction governors. SATZGER, E. Nov. 2, 1954 [Dec. 28, 1953], No..31627/54. Class 57 [Also in Group XXVII] The piston or diaphragm 14 of a suctiontype governor actuates a fuel injection pump control rod 19 through a lever 18 pivoted at 17 and a stop 20, actuated by a cutoff lever 11 mounted on the pivotal axis 17, acts upon the lever 18 to cut off the fuel supply. The lever 18 is pivoted on the shaft 17 which is fixed to the lever 11 and carries the stop 20 which in the normal position of the lever 11 co-operates with a stop 21, carried by the lever 18, to limit the fullload fuel supply. The stop 21 is carried by a spring-loaded pin 22 slidable in the lever 18, the end 25 of the pin being formed to co-operate with a cam 27. On rotation of the lever 11 in the direction a, Fig. 3, the stop 20 contacts the stop 21 and the lever 18 is rotated to move the control rod 19 to cut off the fuel supply. Simultaneously, the end 25 of the pin 22 rides up the cam 27, whereby the pin 22 is forced upwards, Fig. 4, against the force of spring 24 to move the stop 21 out of line with the stop 20 so that the latter snaps into a recess 28 in the pin. When the lever 11 is returned to its normal position after the engine has stopped, the governor spring 15 keeps the recessed part 28 of the pin 22 in contact with the stop 20 so that the control rod 19 moves to a position beyond the normal fullload position so that excess fuel is supplied when the engine is restarted. After starting, the governor moves the lever 18 and pin 22 to the right, Fig. 3, whereby the pin 22 moves out of contact with the stop 20 and snaps back into its normal position in which the stop 21 is positioned in line with the stop 20 to limit the full-load supply.
