Abstract
674,403. Controlling motor vehicles. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Oct. 9, 1950 [Oct. 8, 1949], No. 24654/50. Class 79(v) In a motor vehicle the brake and the motive power controls are so interconnected that each can be operated independently but so that the operation of either effects a positive return of the other or a positive retention in its non-operative position. In Fig. 1, a lever d is mounted on a vertical pivot behind the brake and accelerator pedals and bears against them. It is biassed by a light spring g to rest against the brake pedal a. Full depression of either pedal prevents the other from being actuated. In Fig. 3 the accelerator pedal b is connected by links i, k and a lost motion linkage n to the brake pedal a. The lost motion device permits depression of either pedal singly. In Fig. 4, the brake pedal a 0 is connected a link q to a pivoted cam p against which bears a lever o connected to the accelerator pedal b<SP>1</SP>. The device is particularly useful on vehicles fitted with an automatic clutch.
