Abstract

[Also in Group XXXIV] In a fluid-pressure braking apparatus for motor vehicles including a control valve having an actuating element 15 which is operated by a foot pedal, the movements of the foot pedal are transmitted to the actuating element by means comprising a lever 6 pivoted at 5 to a plate 2, a tappet 13 pivoted at 14 to the plate 2 and engaging the actuating element 15, and a roller 10 interposed between the tappet 13 and the lever 6, the roller being carried on the end of a piston-rod 11 which is moved to vary the mechanical advantage of the arrangement by supplying air to a cylinder 12 through either manual control means or control means operated automatically in accordance with vehicle load. Lever 6 is coupled with a foot pedal lever 3 via a link 7 incorporating a spring 9 for introducing a " travel " characteristic.
