Abstract

The brake control valve (12) is fitted with a pivoted lever (16) with the free end linked to the axle by a rigid linkage. The lever is limited in its upwards travel by a threaded stop (26) on a spindle (22) screwed into the valve and extending through a hole in the lever. The valve is operated via a sprung link (42) at the top of the valve operating shaft (28). The purpose of the regulating system is to modify the breaking pressure and hence the braking power in accordance with the load on a vehicle.
