Abstract

A load-responsive brake pressure regulator for a motor vehicle braking system comprises a rocking beam (29), whose fulcrum position depends on the load of a vehicle axle (15) and which controls hydraulic fluid supply from a brake master cylinder (12) through a ball valve (43, 44) to the brakes of the vehicle. Brake pressure acts on the beam (29) through piston (46) in opposition to master cylinder pressure acting through piston (35), and to preloaded spring (51). Full master cylinder pressure is applied to the brake up a certain pressure, which depends on the fulcrum position, and above that pressure the rate of increase of brake pressure is a proportion (also dependent on fulcrum position) of the rate of increase of master cylinder pressure. <IMAGE>
