Abstract

239,662. Hunt, F. O. July 29, 1924. Controlling different functions by same lever; pedals and pedal-levers, mounting.-The accelerator pedal B is mounted upon the brake or clutch pedal A so as to be operated by a side-wise movement of the foot. The pedal B is connected through a chain E, to a sector or bellcrank lever F, and an adjustable rod G to the throttle K, a hand-control device J also being provided. The accelerator pedal is normally held in the slow-running position by a spring (not shown); as the throttle is opened this spring passes across the pivot of the pedal and then assists in overcoming the resistance of the ordinary throttle-control spring. Depression of the brake pedal slackens the chain E and allows the throttle to close. The throttle may be operated positively in both directions by the pedal B, a second set of connections E, F, G being provided.
