Abstract

Controlling different functions by same lever; pedals and pedal levers. mounting; flexible transmitters.-The brake pedal 4 carries a foot plate 1 which is rotatable on the brake pedal and actuates the engine throttle by means which are disconnected when the pedal is depressed to apply the brake. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the plate 1 is fixed to a shaft 2 which rotates in a bracket 5 on the brake pedal lever and carries an arm 9 adapted to engage a lever 11 controlling the throttle, so that when the plate 1 and shaft 2 are rotated, the throttle is operated. When the brake pedal is depressed to the position shown in broken lines to apply the brake, the arm 9 moves away from the lever 11 and the throttle, if open, is closed b its spring. Stops 15 are provided on the foot plate to position the foot. and one of these stops is adjustable to suit different widths of foot. In a modification, the plate 1 controls a lever pivoted on the brake pedal lever by means of Bowden mechanism, and the lever thus controlled abuts against the lever 11 when the brake pedal is in its normal or disengaged position.
