Abstract

673,728. Spinning mixed-fibre yarns. BURGESS, R. March 7, 1950, No. 5670/50. Addition to 671,373. Class 120(iii) Yarn containing intermingled dyed and undyed fibres is formed on the cotton system from staple cotton, rayon or synthetic fibres by forming rovings from undyed fibres,'dyeing the rovings, forming slivers from undyed fibres, doubling and drawing at least one dyed roving with at least one undyed sliver to form a strand in which dyed and undyed fibres are intermingled, thereafter doubling and drawing the strand with at least. one other similar strand to increase the thoroughness of the intermingling, and finally spinning to form yarn. The initial doubling and drawing may be effected on drawing frames and/or slubber or intermediate frames; the resultant slivers or rovings are subjected to doubling and drawing which may be repeated on further intermediate frames until a roving having the desired degree of intermingling of fibres is produced, such roving then being spun into yarn. The term " undyed fibres is used as covering artificial or synthetic staple fibres which are formed from filaments spun from coloured solutions but which are not subsequently dyed.
