673,162. Gasifying pulverized fuel. KOPPERS CO., Inc. Dec. 24, 1948 [Dec. 29, 1947], No. 33297/48. Class 55 (i). In gasifying pulverized coal, brown coal, lignite, &c., particularly by suspension and partial combustion in oxygen, followed by an endothermic reaction with carbon dioxide or steam, the fuel is ground to .such fineness that more than half its weight has a grain size below 0.05 mm. For more reactive fuels such as peat or brown coal a proportion of about 50-70 per cent may possess this fineness, and for bituminous coal or anthracite a percentage of 80-90. Specification 673,161 is referred to.
