Abstract

671,834. Potato harvesters. RANSOMES, SIMS & JEFFERIES, Ltd., and HENDERSON, W. M. Sept. 6,1950 [June 6, 1949], No. 12144/49. Class 6(iii) A potato harvester comprises a front scoop 22 arranged to work along the base to a rear scoop 25, the scoops being oscillated to a rear scoop 25, the scoop being oscillated in an out of phase relation to remove the earth and being provided with spring tines 22a, 25a respectively. The scoops 22, 25 are secured to shafts 10, 17 by means of arms 21, 24 and brackets 20, 23 respectively, the shafts 10, 17, being pivotally mounted on pins 12, 19 by brackets 11, 18 respectively. A lever 9 fixed to the shaft 10 is oscillated by a lever 6 connected to a crank 5 driven from a tractor power shaft through a coupling 1 and causes oscillation of the front scoop 22. The rear scoop is oscillated by a lever 16 mounted on the shaft 17 and connected by a link 13 to the lever 9. The arrangement is such that the scoops move towards and away from each other.
