Abstract

735,719. Root-crop harvesters. RANSOMES, SIMS & JEFFERIES, Ltd. Dec. 10, 1953 [Sept. 11, 1962], No. 22885/52. Class 6 (3). A root-crop harvester comprises a chassis 1 supported on land-wheels 2 and carrying a share 3 at the front, a jigging grid 4 being arranged to receive the excavated material and pass it to the interior of a perforated drum 5 rotary about a longitudinal axis ; pockets 8 in the drum-interior carry the crop up to fall on to a conveyer 9 partially extending within the drum, the conveyer being associated with a rotary separating member 11 which deflects the crop laterally on to an elevator 12. The rear ground-wheel is adjustable relatively to the chassis 1 by means of a screw 13, and the share is likewise adjustable by a lever and detent 14. The rotary device 11 forms the subject-matter of Specification 735,720, [Group II]. All the moving parts may be driven by the groundwheels, or through a shaft 15 coupled to the tractor power take-off. Specifications 671,834 and 735,721, [Group XXX], also are referred to.
