Abstract

655,675. Root crop digging machine. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD, H. V. Nov. 10, 1947, No. 29829. [Class 6(iii)] In a machine for raising root crops of the type incorporating a share 34 for raising the crop, behind which share is a rotary digger element 26 supported on an inclined axis, an arm 32 extends rearwardly from the share in an upwardly inclined direction to a point in advance of the rear boundary of the orbit of the tines of the rotary digging element at which point the arm is extended upwardly and then forwardly to a point on the frame 11 of the machine. As shown, the machine is connected to lifting links 14, 15 on a tractor and has road wheels 17 mounted on a cranked axle 19 adjustable by means of a hand-screw 21. The digging element, together with a rotary receiving element (not shown), are driven through a gearbox 25 from a power take-off shaft 28. Specifications 520,436 and 640,165 are referred to.
