Abstract

694,528. Agricultural implements ROTARY HOES, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1952 [March 22, 1951], No. 6844/51. Class 6(i) A power-driven rotary culitvator comprises a helical bladed rotor 23 mounted on an axis oblique to the direction of travel, the angle of helix of the blades and the angle of obliquity of the rotor axis being so related that the rotor is not subjected to undue end thrust. As shown the rotor is driven by chain and sprocket gearing from a shaft mounted in a member 11a and driven from the tractor power take-off shaft through a dog clutch operated by a hand lever 42. A rear control wheel 49 is provided and is operated by extensible means 50. The trailing end of the rotor is supported by an adjustable depth control wheel of which the tread is of truncated conical form, the wheel being supported in front of the rotor for rotation on an upwardly inclined axis. A scraper is provided to remove earth adhering to the inner flange of the wheel. A cover 45 is provided and is mounted on the supporting frame of the rotor. The cultivator is pivotally attached to the tractor and may be connected to lifting means 56 on the tractor whereby the cultivator may be raised clear of the ground.
