Abstract

892,841. Root-crop harvesters. WHITSED, W. J. April 23, 1958 [Jan. 24, 1957], No. 2560/57. Class 6(3). [Also in Group II] A harvester comprising a three wheeled trailer for attachment to the rear of a tractor has a scoop 27 and conveyer 26 which deliver roots or tubers and soil &c. to an elevator 22 provided with inwardly directed tines 23. The tops of the plants are removed by means, not shown, near the bottom of the elevator and the mixture is delivered to a conveyer 10. A plate 17 defects the feed to a shoot 12 and a separating conveyer 14, whereby the roots or tubers roll over the conveyer against its direction of motion to a conveyer 20 and discharge conveyer 31, and the soil &c. is fed to a conveyer 21 and discharge shoot 30. The conveyers are driven from the power take-off of the tractor. Specifications 712,475, 743,334, 833,626 and 867,855 are referred to.
