[Also in Group XXX] An agricultural machine comprises a load carrying body 26 provided with an endless conveyer 51 for moving a load rearwardly to an open end of the body, flails 39 mounted in a transverse shaft 37 carried by arms 33 adjusted by hydraulic jacks 43 and a deflector 92 adjustable about the shaft 37. A delivery shoot 94 may be positioned over the flails and is provided with rollers 95 which run on the upper edge of the side walls of the body. The shoot 94 may be retained in an inoperative position as shown in Fig. 3. An adjustable land wheel 44 is mounted at one side of the flails 39. Rotary tines are mounted on a shaft 72 and rotate so that at the lowest point of travel they move away from the open end of the body. For cutting and loading silage the shoot 94 is engaged over the flails and the deflector 92 is secured in the position shown in full-lines in Fig. 1. The flail assembly is lowered to the ground to a position determined by the setting of the wheel 44. The drive to the conveyer is disconnected and as the machine is towed forwardly the flails cut the crop and project it up the shoot 94. For loading manure the shoot is engaged with the flail assembly 1 and the deflector 92 is positioned as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. The conveyer is again stationary and the arms 33 are raised so that the flails engage the top of the manure heap. The machine is reversed and the flails pick up manure and project it up the shoot 94. To spread manure the shoot is locked in the position shown in Fig. 3, the deflector being positioned at the lower front side of the flail cylinder. The conveyer moves manure rearwardly to the flails the current reaching the flails being regulated by the rotary tines on the shaft 72.
