Abstract
592,988. Manure distributers. THWAITES, L. B. April 12, 1945, Nos. 9105, 18035, 20102, 27663 and 34358. [Class 6(i)] A distributer for manure which has been previously placed in heaps on the land comprises a carriage supporting a spreading device, a spiked roller being mounted in front of the spreader for shreading the manure and transferring it to the spreader. In the form shown, for dealing with continuous heaps of manure, the machine comprises a wheeled trailer on which is mounted a rotary screw-like spreader 21 transversly arranged at the rear of the trailer and driven through a power-take-off shaft 27 from a tractor. Mounted parallel to and forwardly of the spreader is a spiked roller 20 for feeding the material to the spreader, the roller being driven by a chain 31 from the spreader axle 24. Lateral plates 19 guide the material towards the roller 20. In a modification, for dealing with a series of isolated heaps, a further spiked roller is adjustably mounted at the front of the machine, the spreader in this modification taking the form of a vaned disc. In a further modification, described in the first Provisional Specification the spreader consists of a rotary frame carrying loose chains which act as flails.
