[Class 6(iii)] A root-crop harvesting machine includes one or more inclined rotary riddles comprising discs 5 having radiating fingers 6, the fingers being vertically displaceable as the disc rotates through cooperation with a camring 37, Fig. 3. The machine is towed by a tractor which drives the discs through a jointed shaft 33, a gear box 13, and a longitudinal drive shaft 17 carrying bevel wheels 18. Shares 7, 8 deliver earth and tubers to the riddles through which the earth falls, the tubers and stones being passed rearwardly to a conveyer 27 which is divided into sections by longitudinal partitions 63, 64. The crop is delivered to the central section and the tubers are manually transferred to the outer sections, by operators sitting on benches 68, from which the tubers pass to bags. The fingers 6 are pivoted to the disc and have hook-like inner ends 59 which partially embrace a cam-ring 37 mounted eccentrically with respect to the axle 42 of the disc. The fingers thus extend parallel to the disc at the receiving, point, but hang downwardly at the discharge point. The cam-ring is free to rotate. Specification 607,847 is referred to.
