Abstract

1,147,813. Rotary-scythe mowers. A. CAHEZ. 7 April, 1966 [9 April, 1965], No. 15489/66. Heading A1F. A tractor-mounted rotary-scythe mower comprises a transmission-gear casing 10, elongated transversely to the direction of travel and above which are arranged cutters 1 rotating about upright pivots 11, the cutters being driven from the power take-off of the tractor and comprising discs with peripheral, outwardly-directed blades 2, the casing being shaped on its underside 8 to slide over the ground. The blades 2 are removable and replaceable on the discs 1 which have conical projections 9 at their centres. As shown in Fig. 1, the casing 10 contains a chain drive entrained in zig-zag fashion around sprockets 18 so that adjacent cutters rotate oppositely, though in a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the cutters are driven all in the same sense from a shaft-drive within the casing, via bevel-gears. The casing carries swath-boards 3 and an inner shoe 5 which is pivoted to a drag-bar 4. In the modification, the casing is pivoted also about a vertical axis so as to be swingable forwardly and rearwardly. The blades 2 are staggered on adjacent discs and their cutting-paths overlap.
