Abstract

1,149,171. Flail-mowers. GLOSTER SARO Ltd. 19 April, 1966 [27 April, 1965; 12 May, 1965], Nos. 17761/65 and 20034/65. Heading A1F. A flail-mower comprises a casing having side-walls, a rotor 4 extending horizontally between the side-walls and carrying cutter blades (not shown), the rotor being driven so that the blades travel forwardly adjacent to the ground, and a front wall 14 which is adjustable on a parallel-linkage 15 to define with the path of the tips of the blades an adjustable upwardly-convergent throat. The parallel links are mounted on a fixed front wall 5 which merges into a top wall 6, the links being adjustable by a handle (not shown). Adjustable baffles may be mounted, within the casing, beneath the top wall to confine the cropdischarge laterally, and a further flap (Fig. 3, not shown) may be hinged to the rear edge of the top wall to deflect crop downwardly. The casing is mounted on wheels 22 mounted on pivoted cranks 24 and adjustable by a jack 27. The rotor is driven by gearbox (Fig. 3, not shown) from the power take-off of the towing tractor.
