Abstract

610,600. Reaping-machines. HAMLETT, H. W. April 8, 1946, No. 27538/47. Divided out of 610,571. [Class 6(iii)] A machine for cleaning land of vegetation comprises a tractor provided in front with power-driven reaping tools each comprising a casing 42 having a number of fingers 53, and a circular saw 49 arranged to rotate inside the casing to cut vegetation gathered between the fingers. The saws 49 are driven by gearing 46, 60, 63, 64 from a shaft 62 upon which the tools are all pivotally supported and about which they may be raised in unison either manually or hydraulically. Each tool is associated with a hydraulic cylinder 70 for lifting purposes and a pivoted tip 179 on each tool is connected by a cable 180 to a valve controlling the action of the cylinder so that the tools may rise individually upon encountering obstructions. The tools may be raised manually by a screw device 177 operating upon a pivoted arm 178. The machine may also be provided at the rear with power-driven rotary hoes of the kind described in Specification 610,571.
