Abstract

773,091. Mowing machines. BORROW, E. W. July 25, 1955 [July 28, 1954], No. 22099/54. Class 6(2). A mowing machine comprises a plurality of cutting units mounted at the front of a tractor and driven by a transverse shaft operated from the power take-off of the tractor. A frame 3 is rigidly attached to the front of the tractor and supports a hollow transverse bar 1 which in turn houses a transverse rotary shaft 6 driven from the power take-off 10 of the tractor. The cutter units 16 are supported from the rotary shaft 6 and the bar 1 by parallel link mechanisms and are belt driven from the rotary shaft 6. Each unit may be connected to the hydraulic lift mechanism of the tractor through a telescopic spring-loaded suspension device 38 and a bell crank lever 37 pivoted about a transverse member 36, or alternatively the transverse bar 1 may be connected to the power lift of the tractor so as to raise the cutters as a whole from the ground.
