Abstract

769,396. Mowing machines. SHANKS & SON, Ltd., A., and FITZPATRICK, G. G. M. May 24, 1955, No. 14929/55. Addition to 742,595. Class 6(2). Relates to an improvement in or modification of the grass cutting machine claimed in the parent Specification. According to the invention the machine is carried in a rigid frame 8 adapted to be mounted by means of a pin 9 in a permanently offset position in the drawbar 6 of a tractor fitted with a lift linkage. As shown the drawbar 6 is pivotally attached to the tractor lift links 2 by pins 7. A telescopic link 12, 12<SP>1</SP> is connected between the tractor and the drawbar, the two parts of the link being held together by a pin 16 and in the position shown the link determines the height above ground of the drawbar. U-shaped links 11 embrace the lift links and are connected to two arms 10 rigidly attached to the frame 8. The links limit the pivoting movement of the machine about the pins 7 when raised to transport position. Before raising the machine the pin 16 is withdrawn from the link and when the machine is raised the link is shortened by inserting the pin in the hole 15<SP>1</SP>, the shortened link thus holding the machine in the raised transport position. The cutter bar is driven from the tractor power shaft through a telescopic shaft 17.
