[Also in Group XXV] Work - guides. - A guide for the doublefolded edge of work in an overedge sewing- machine comprises a U- shaped piece of wire adjustably fixed on the presser-foot with its limbs parallel to the lower face of the presser-foot. In the form shown the upper limb 41 is bent upon itself to form a parallel length 45 with its further end bent back again to receive a screw 47 by which it is clamped on the presser-foot 22; the lower limb 42 has a flattened under-surface, and its end is bent at right-angles to form a guide portion 48, flattened above and below, to fit in the first fold of the work, the second fold lying between the limbs 41, 42 of the device. A cooperating floating edge guide such as that described in Specification 608,319 is preferably used. Members such as shoulder straps to be attached to the work may be passed between the limbs 41, 45 of the guide. Presser-feet - The presser-foot is tiltably mounted on the presser-arm 21, the end of the latter being rounded to fit in a notch 34 in the foot and the two members being held together by a plate 36 fixed on the foot engaging over a lateral lug, with upturned end 38, on the presser arm.
