Abstract

667,313. Lubricating. DUROSE, H. V. Feb. 14, 1950,'No. 3698/50. Class 12 (iii). A vehicle spring lubricator comprises an oil container 1 attached to a pair of resilient or spring-influenced. side wings 3 enclosing felt or other absorbent material 8 adapted to be fed with lubricant from the container 1, so that when it is clipped over several superimposed leaves 22 of the vehicle spring the felt 8 is maintained against the edges of the leaves, the side wings having retaining lips 5. A hole 14 in the base of the container 1 co-operates with a hole 9 in the felt whereby movement of the vehicle displaces a ball 15 and allows oil to pass to the felt pad 8. The side members 3 and felt side parts are of tapered form and the felt is located in position by flanges 10. The oil chamber is sealed by a gasket 16 and is provided with an air vent 17 loosely closed by a rivet 18, and with filling apertures 19 closed by projections 20 on spring arms 21. In the modification shown in Fig. 6 the side wings 3 have inturned upper ends 23 slidably connected with the top 4 by integral projections 24 engaging slots 25 in the top 4. Coil springs 26 connect opposite projections 24 and thus draw them together to press the felt pads 8 against the leaf-spring.
