508,510. Lubricating pumps and cans. MORROW LUBRICATOR CO. Dec. 31, 1937, No. 36296. Convention date, Feb. 15. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] Relates to lubricators, of the type in which the lubricant is discharged by a pump the piston of which is operated by a manuallyoperated rod 7; passing through a sleeve 10 in the base 8 of the container 1. According to the invention an air vent 14 in the tube 10 is controlled by a conical rubber packing ring 17 in a groove in the rod 7, the packing being so arranged that the vent 14 is open to the atmosphere in the inner position of the rod 7; and is closed to the atmosphere in the outer position of the rod 7, as shown. The rod is operated by a thumb.piece 12 against the action of a spring 13. The out. ward movement is limited by a spring-ring 22 in a groove in the rod 7; The base may be convex, or dished inwardly, as shown.
