Abstract
455,678. Grease guns. TECALEMIT, Ltd., Great West Road, Brentford, Middlesex. Nov. 21, 1935, No. 32348. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1934. [Classes 102 (i) and 102 (ii)] In a grease gun, in which the plunger is operated by a piston 9 acted on by air pressure and the suction ports 26 are supplied through a passage 25 from a replaceable lubricant container 62, the latter is of flexible material and is acted on by external air pressure. The gun is held by a handle 22 and operation of a lever 21 depresses a rod 17, having a valve surface engaging a seating, and so closing communication between a passage 19 and the atmosphere through a port 20. Simultaneously a stem 18 on the rod 17 opens a valve 15 and admits compressed air from a pipe 14 to the passage 19 and the piston 9. The air also passes through a passage 28 and a passage in a plug 72 to a casing 61 enclosing the container 62. The latter is formed with a rim 68, which is clamped between a surface 60 on the pump body and a ring 64 on the casing secured to the pump body by bolts 63. The ring 64 also carries the plug 72 which is provided with a check valve 76 and engages an orifice 71 having a packing ring 74. In a modification the casing 61 is hinged to the pump body. In a further modification the casing 61 is cylindrical and is screwed on to the pump body. The casing is provided with a removable cap and the container 62 is held in place by a spring.
