Abstract
215,542. Symons, E. R. April 16, 1923. Lever-actuated single-acting bucket pumps; suction reservoirs. - Lubricating-cans having a lubricant container and manually operated pump means to effect lubricant discharge, have a pump plunger consisting of a body portion and a plunger proper and resiliently controlled valves for the passages leading to and from the plunger cylinder. As shown, the lubricating-call 1 has a pump cylinder 4, the flange 5 of which is secured by a nut 6. An inlet valve-box 7 having a spring-controlled valve 12 is screwed to the cylinder 4 and has an inlet tube 8 with a screenedend 9. A plunger 14 has packing 16 and a spring- controlled discharge valve 21 connected by a pipe 23 to a spout 25 screwed to the top of the plunger 14. Pivoted to a drip-pan 26 fixed near the top of the cylinder 4 is a lever 31 passing over pins 33 on the plunger 14. The plunger 14 is pressed outwardly by a spring 30. When the lever 31 is depressed, lubricant in the cylinder 4 passes through the valve 21 and out of the spout 25, and when the lever 31 is released the spring 30 moves the plunger 14 outwardly and draws a fresh charge of lubricant into the cylinder 4.
