Abstract

292,220. Alfaro, J. A. March 12, 1927. Liquid-pressure engines. - Liquid from a storage tank under pneumatic pressure passes to a motor having inlet and outlet valves 48, 49, Fig. 4, operated by gearing from the motor crankshaft 5, the exhaust liquid being received in a cylinder 8 of the same capacity as the tank. When the latter is empty, an electric or other motor 68, Fig. 3, is set into operation to drive an air compressor 70 to supply compressed air to the tank, and a pump 73 which causes the exhaust liquid to be returned to the tank. The pump takes liquid from the cylinder 8 at 76, and delivers it under the stem 20 of a piston 18, which is thereby raised to force the exhaust liquid through an outlet 33, a valve 23 being closed at this time. The valve 23 is opened when the piston 18 is at the top of its stroke, so as to set the spaces above the piston 18 and under the stem 20 into communication, so that the piston may be returned by the spring 32.
