Abstract

596,000. Piston packings. DENHOLM, R.J. July 13, 1945, No. 17911. [Class 122 (i)] Piston packing consists of an outer ring of soft metal 4 and an inner ring 5 of resilient material located in a piston-ring groove of relatively deep incision, a spring 2 being provided between the inside surface of the resilient ring and the bottom of the piston-ring groove. The resilient ring may carry a V- shaped groove on its inside to accommodate spring. In a further form, a wide outer ring is supported by two independent resilient rings and springs as above.
