Abstract

647,149. Packing rings. GRATZMULLER, J. L: Sept. 1, 1947, No. 24138. Convention date, March 4. [Class 122(i)] A piston 2 is formed with a head portion 2a of reduced diameter, a ring 3 being positioned against a shoulder 2b thereby formed. Secured to the ring 3 is a packing ring 4 expanded by a spring ring 5 held in position by a washer 6 retained by a spring ring 7 in a groove in the wall of the piston. The lip 8 of the ring 4 is of greater thickness than the radial thickness at the base of the lip.
