604,704. Stuffing-box substitutes. WRIGHT, H. CLAYTON-. Nov. 30, 1945, No. 32352. [Class 122 (v)] In a packing ring of the type adapted to be fixed to a stationary member and having annular lips contacting a shaft or rotatably mounted member, sealing rings 3 of rubber-like material are housed in a metal casing 1 and separated by a distance ring 7. The sealing lips 5a of the rings 3 are held in contact with the shaft by garter springs 6, and the space between the rings 3 is packed with grease.
