Abstract

572,095. Reciprocating pumps. TURNER MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and GROVES, W. R. March 25, 1944, No. 5544. [Class 102 (i)] In a double-acting differential piston pump in which a valve is formed by a resilient packing ring F of smaller dimensions than a groove G which is in permanent communication with the upper side of the piston B by passages b, and which communicates with the lower side of the piston by passages b<1> which are opened and closed by the packing ring, the piston diameter above the groove is less than that below the groove, or is formed with vertical grooves b' on its periphery. Also, the lower outer edge of the ring F' is tapered, and its upper outer edge is initially somewhat greater in diameter than the bore of the cylinder A.
