437,144. Valves. JENKINS, T. M., 1028, Melrose Avenue, Verdun, Quebec, Canada. Oct. 16, 1934, No. 29561. [Class 135] A vent valve includes a cylinder 13 having a piston 25 normally urged by a spring 29 against a stop ring 30. The outlet passage 15 is of small diameter to give a restricted flow, the outlet end of the passage being controlled by a needle valve 27 formed on the end of a rod 26 fixed to the piston 25. The valve may be secured by an elbow fitting 11 to the cap 10 of an oil well or other apparatus. In operation, the piston 25 is held against the stop ring 30 and air or gases issuing from the oil well pass away through the passage 15. When the liquid rises to a sufficient height in the chamber 13 the spring 29 is compressed and the passage 15 is closed by the needle valve 27. The liquid in the chamber 13 may be drained through a hand-controlled valve 33.
