Abstract

478,559. Flow regulators. ATELIERS NEYRET - BEYLIER & PICCARD-PICTET. Sept. 14, 1937, No. 25021. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1936. [Class 135] A device for maintaining a substantially constant flow through hydraulic mains comprises a chamber 2 having an inlet 1 and outlet 3 and housing a see-saw lever 6. One end of the lever carries a cylindrical sector valve 4 adapted to control the flow through the outlet while the other end of the lever carries a loading weight 11 and flat member 7 provided with a rim 8. The end of the inlet conduit is shaped as a tapered nozzle 9 adapted -to produce a jet of liquid which impinges on the member 7 to move the valve member to throttle the outlet as the inlet flow increases. The closed chamber 2 may be replaced by an open chamber of sufficient height to balance the pressure head in the liquid conduit. The flow may be varied by altering the weight 11, or the diameter of the orifice 9 or by adjusting the needle valve 10.
