463,492. Fluid actuated valves. DENTAL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., AINGE, H. J., and BETTS, C. F. Nov. 30, 1935, No. 33214. [Class 135] [Also in Group VI] Anµsthetic apparatus comprises a pressurereducing valve 2 in a chamber 1 and an inhalation-operated air-and-gas controlling valve 15. The valve 2 is controlled by levers 9 connected to a diaphragm 10, tension on the diaphragm being adjustable by a spring 33 within a screw-threaded sleeve 11. The valve 15 comprises a conical plug secured to a piston 17 in a chamber 14 and obturating gas and air inlets, 12<1> and 18 respectively. The chamber 14 is connected by a passage (shown at 20, Fig. 6), with the inhalation tube such that suction during inhalation lifts the piston 17 and valve 15, giving passage to air and gas. Movement of piston 17 is checked by a spring 19. The valve shown in Fig. 6 has a throughport 27 closable by rotating the valve by a knob 28 connected to a cross-piece 30 engaging diametral slots 31 in an extension of the piston 17. The air inlet 18 is controlled by a ported sleeve valve 40.
