Abstract

423,633. Capillary-action lubricators. MOONEY, E., Lendal Bridge, York. Jan. 16, 1934, Nos. 1530 and 6884. [Class 12 (iii)] In a railway-vehicle lubricator capillary feeders 7 from a lubricator pad 4 pass through a member 8 which makes a tight plug-in fit with an opening in the top of the oil compartment 2 to exclude water and prevent the escape of oil from the latter. As shown, the member 8 is of waterproofed woven woollen or other textile material, and has a spring ring 9 where it passes into the oil compartment 2. In a modification the oil compartment has a large rectangular opening fitted with a spring frame 6<z>, Fig. 5, covered with textile material. The capillary feeders 7 are threaded singly or in bunches through small holes pierced through the textile material and are knotted or tied together on the underside. In another modification the feeders 8 pass singly or in bunches through textile material stitched round a spring ring fitted into the oil compartment opening.
