Abstract

576,408. Lubricant nipples. STROUD METAL & PLATING CO., Ltd., and TAUSSIG, R. Sept. 26, 1944, No. 18354. [Class 12 (iii)] A closure for a lubricator or oil-hole comprises a plate or disc of resilient oil-resistant material having a slit therein, the edges of which are normally closed but can be opened by an oil-can spout. The plate or disc may be simply pressed into an undercut groove of a conduit end. Fig. 7 shows a disc 8 of synthetic rubber with a central slit 8a which is held in a counter bore of a bicycle-hub oil-hole 12 by a clip 9a having an open boss portion 9 to encircle the disc 8. The disc may be formed of butting segments 2, Fig. 2, the circular edges of which are secured between flanges la of a cup-like pressing 1, Fig. 3, which is retained in a threaded oil-hole by a bent up toothed washer lb fixed to the base of the cup by a hollow rivet 1c.
