9785. Stern Sonneborn Oil Co., and Wallach, L. C. April 22. Force-feed lubricators.-In a lubricator for semi-solid lubricants, consisting of a cover 2 screwing into a cup 1 and provided with a spring-pressed piston 3, the piston has a peripheral groove containing spring metallic packing-rings 5. A spring clip 10 is provided to indicate audibly how many turns the cover has received when being screwed into the cup to adjust the pressure on the lubricant, and also to prevent accidental unscrewing. This clip is fastened to the cover 1 and has a slot 11 to receive a stud 12 on the cup, the end of which may be inclined so as to allow the clip to ride over it in one direction. When the stud snaps into the slot 11, accidental unscrewing is prevented. The clip may be attached to the cup 1 and the stud 12 to the cover 2. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which a slotted clip 14 is hinged at 15 to one end of a U-shaped spring 16. By raising the clip until the free end of the spring 16 enters the slot, the clip is retained out of engagement with the stud 12, leaving the cover 2 free to be unscrewed for recharging.
