148,867. Woodjard, G. L. Jan. 5, 1916, [Convention date]. Capillary-action lubricating; oil-hole closures.- A lubricating-device for a vehicle spring comprises a casing 1 with side members 1<a> having bent-in ends 1<b> adapted to fit in the grooves between the two upper leaves of the spring to clamp the device in position. An oil-hole 1<d> is provided with a cover 3, secured to one end of the casing, the cover being bent up at 3a to facilitate the insertion of the spout of the oil-can. A resilient pad 2 of felt &c. having a central hole 2<a> is provided to act on an oil container, The casing has a bent. back portion 1<c> which assists in making the pad 2 a tight fit against the spring and casing. The pad allows oil to seep out along the sides to run down between the leaves of the spring.
